Hydrangea

By: JD Najarro

In a world full of roses
Filled with lies and broken promises
I long for uniqueness, calmness, comfort
Unlike those fake tulips of dishonesty which I suffered

Walking down the aisle
With more roses down the mile
I saw something on a pile
Something I've never seen in awhile

It was a flower of trust, peace and calmness
Could it be the rare blue Hydrangea? I confess
I wonder how it grew in a land of disguise?
Without dying surrounded by the unwise

I gaze upon it's beauty
It's striking blue gives off full purity
It's uniqueness gave it's rarity
In a field of betrayal and dishonesty

Gazing upon the flower, it reminds of someone
Who gave me hope when I was no one
The one who brings a peace of mind
Who gave me the smile that I can't find

Her presence lighten up my day
Even if she has no words to say
And because my world is always gray
I ask politely to please stay?

Her words bring hope and colors into my heart
Words that broke the layer of cold and hard
Brings joy to a soul once dark
Lighting up my world with just a spark

I pray for your life to thrive longer
Even when your distance became farther
Souls like yours should die? They should never
These words have become more truer

Just like the beautiful hydrangea
The warmth and beauty heals my trauma
What was once dark and lost hope of humanity
Is now staying, trying to keep you happy
